The River Community Church

Thoughts From the Elders

From Claude Williams

A review of recent "Prayer Matters" shows consistent and pressign requests from our families to "pray for children and adults in their families to 'know Jesus' and commit their lives to Him."

Could there be a higher calling for us as God's people than to pray for the unsaved/uncommitted among us? and to be actively engaged with a "pre-believer", and sharing from the Scriptures the claims and promises of Christ?
While The River prayer team is praying for their request, each of us can be praying for our families and friends. Could I suggest you may consider praying for their spiritaul lives and heart-condition be softened, and opened and sensitive to God: that they be prepared/cultivated for planting of God's Word into their life, and pray for the one available as God's messenger of His Words of Salvation that bring TRUE hope and peace and joy.
Often we hear or say, "Oh, I don't know just how to talk to (my friend, family, etc) about the gospel, or leading them, etc." If it is your heart's desire - to know how to pray, and how to share, let me know of your interest and such preparation/equipping can be yours (one-on-one, or as a groups to be formed, God will lead).
If you, as a believer approach this prayerfully and openly, god can and will do a work in your heart that would greatly please Him! We can, and we muyst enbcourage each other.
The great need for our day is not 'better politicians', or 'better leaders - first must come a living out of authentic christian faith in and among God-honoring people.
A few of the many Scriptures that you may consider: John 3:16, Matthew 11:28-30, Romans 3:23, 6:23, 10:8-10, Revelation 3:20 and 1 Peter 3:13-17
May our Lord truly bless you as you read and prepare!

Merry Christmas From:

The Conners

You’ve done it again!  Remember the baseball metaphor we used in our last newsletter?  We said we were on third base and needed get home. Well, you hit a grand slam homer and we are headed back to Guadalajara fully supported.  Thank you for responding with grace and generosity.

My (Lynn) task over the next couple of years will be the development of the Marriage and Family Training Center as well as finding and preparing the personnel that will carry on after our departure.  Barbara will dive into the ministry with the women in the church and with the wives of national pastors. Please pray that the Lord will guide our steps, giving us wisdom on the best use of time and energy. May you have a "filled with wonder at the profound mercy of God" Christmas.connermex@yahoo.com

The Kelsays

You and I can be glad together seeing god answer olur prayers! James, has helped lead Bridges for a year and went to the Middle East on a summer mission. When we first met, he doubted God would use him, but wanted to try...as I traveled to 7 campuses this fall, God has reaped a harvest at each. Ashley(UI staff) had a brain bleed in Auguest with surgery following. Pray for her recovery. My wife Becky has been on campus with student smore than ever this fall, we enjoy the student leaders who help plan our outreaches. Praise God for them! 56 students are filling our charter bus to Baltimore for our Vision conference Dec 27 - Jan 1. Fray for a fruitful time learning. when we came from Asia in 2008 there were only 2 campuses with Bridges in our region. We have expanded to 21 in 5 states! But for the first time in our 30+ years, our account is empty with $6700 short in salary, ministry and medical costs. If you are able to help, send a check to CRU at https://give.cru.org/0258704 Thank you for sowing and reaping with us to reach the nations! skelsay1@gmail.com

Lewis Family

We will enjoy the holidays as our kids will come to Omaha to see us. Continue to pray for those tending the clinic while we are away.

Bartsch Family

Praise God for the Prince of Peace and the peace He has brought to family and individuals we know. We are spending time with our children and their families for Christmas. We have a full schedule in 2015. Pray for God's blessing as we also pray for you.

We encourage you to contact others serving elsewhere to say hello and let them know you are praying for them, they appreciate it. Prayer letters may also be picked up from the Resource Room at The River along with current info including River family prayer requests in "Prayer Matters". If you would like to be included on our Prayer Team, send us an email. We will send out requests, usually once a week for you to pray for. If you have a story of someone serving in Jesus' name, send it our way and we will pass it on!
